While in London with my Mom, we were able to take a day trip to the Harry Potter Studio. We’ve both read the books & seen all the movies (multiple times), so this was a dream come true for us!

Harry Potter Studio Tour Tickets
You have to purchase tickets in advance to visit the studio. You can do that online here. It’s fairly expensive to visit (about $50 for an adult ticket) but if you’re a Harry Potter fan it’s so worth it. You can also pay extra for an audio guide and souvenir book (which obviously we did). The audio guide isn’t 100% necessary but we learned so much more with it!

Getting to the Harry Potter Studio Tour
To get to the studio, it’s about 40 minutes outside the city center of London. You should take a train to Waterford Junction from Euston Station. Outside the station, you’ll see a very Harry Potter themed double decker bus that will take you to the studio. The ride is about another 20 minutes. Your ticket to the studio includes this round trip bus ride from the station. (If you have an Oyster card, you should be able to use this for the train journey).

Experiencing the Studio Tour
The day we visited the studio it was snowing, but luckily, most of the tour is inside. There are only a few larger portions outside. The moment you step off the bus, you’re immersed in Harry Potter images & posters surrounding the entrance. We were so excited we snapped a few photos outside before going in!

We spent a little under 5 hours visiting the studio! It’s filled with actual sets from the film, costumes & props! We were in awe of it all. Part way through our visit we were able to stop in a cafeteria to grab a small bite to eat and try a butter beer.

The tour starts with a short film, welcoming you to the studio. They only let small groups in at a time so you’re spread out throughout the journey. I don’t want to spoil the entrance too much, but trust me when I say it’s magical!

To give you an idea of some of the sets you can visit (to name a few):
- Gryffindor Common Room
- The Great Hall
- Hagrid’s Hut
- Potions Classroom
- Dumbledore’s Office
- Diagon Alley
- The Dark Forrest

There were also a lot of cool props as well, including:
- Buckbeak
- The Sorting Hat
- Dobby
- The Tri-Wizard Tournament Cup
- The Night Bus

If you’re a big Harry Potter fan, this is a can’t miss while in London! This was certainly one of the highlights of our trip to London and I can’t wait to go back again with Mark.

Cheers, Amanda
