Looking for the top restaurants in Lipari? We've personally ate at these places and can attest to the stunning views, freshness of the food & value of each one.

Sangre Rojo

Sunset views from the restaurant

Sangre Rojo is one of the best sunset spots on Lipari. The drive takes 20 minutes so you will either need a rental car or take a taxi to get there. The drive itself is quite scenic (picture winding roads along the coast) but can be a bit daunting if you’re not used to driving there. After we had spent all day on a boat, this well known Lipari restaurant serving fresh seafood was the perfect way to end our evening!

Mussels appetizer

If you can, we recommend requesting a seat on their patio when you make reservations to ensure you can enjoy the sunset with dinner. The prices are surprisingly reasonable for such a great location as well. If you’re not a seafood lover, there is only one option on the menu for you (pesto pasta) so something to consider before visiting.

Bar D’Ambra

Outdoor Seating at Bar D’Ambra

Bar D’Ambra is located in Marina Corta and offers extensive outdoor seating under large umbrellas. While we only were able to dine here for breakfast, they also serve lunch & dinner too! This is definitely a casual spot – picture baguette sandwiches, pizza, paninis and salads. It’s also a great if you’re simply looking to enjoy a drink by the water & people watch.

Granita flavors & a view of Marina Corta

We highly recommending ordering granita (semi-frozen dessert made with local fruits or nuts) and one of their fresh brioche buns for dipping. This will cost you ~€6.50 so whether it’s your breakfast or an afternoon snack, it’s very budget friendly! One of the reasons we loved this spot is because my grandmother’s family name was D’Ambra so it felt like a special connection for us while on this heritage trip to Sicily.

Osteria San Bartolo

Inside Osteria San Bartolo

Osteria San Bartolo is located near the main port and walking distance from downtown. It’s a small spot with a casual beach-theme. They offer a few outdoor seats under umbrellas as well, but we found it to be more comfortable to dine inside given the midday heat.

Charcuterie

This spot is good for a light lunch or even a drink before dinner. Many of their plates are small & shareable. We got the charcuterie to try some fresh meats and cheeses which was delicious!

Ristorante al Pirata

View from Ristorante al Pirata

Easily one of our favorite meals of the trip was at Ristorante al Pirata. Located right next to Marina Piccolo, this hidden gem offers al fresco dining on the water (and I mean on the water). It was so peaceful to hear the waves lapping against the wall of the restaurant and to enjoy the cool sea breeze during dinner!

Fried Seafood Platter

Similar to many island restaurants, the menu mainly consists of seafood and the freshness did not disappoint! The prices are also reasonable (considering what you would typically pay for seaside dining in other countries). As our last dinner in the Aeolian Islands, this place holds a special place in our hearts and should be on everyone’s Lipari Restaurant list.

Coral Beach Club

Umbrella & chair rentals at Coral Beach Club

While I wouldn’t say Coral Beach Club is known for it’s restaurant, it does make it the perfect place to have a beach day without needing to leave to find food. There is a free shuttle you can take from downtown that will bring you to the beach club. You will need to pay to rent beach chairs & an umbrella. From there, you can get food & drinks from their restaurant to enjoy right on the beach!

Tenuta di Castellaro

Toast to the Sun

Ok, so this isn’t exactly a restaurant but let’s consider it a bonus on our list! One of the best spots to watch the sunset and enjoy a glass of wine is at Tenuta di Castellaro. You can pre-book their tour, a Toast to the Sun, that includes a guided walk around the vineyard, 4 samples of wine and some local snacks (meats, cheeses, crostini’s, etc). The best part about the experience is the stunning sunset over the water with views of the other islands in the distance!

Sicily is known for it’s food and all of these places on our Lipari Restaurant guide will give you a taste of the Aeolian Islands. Whether they offer stunning views of the water, fresh seafood or affordable prices, they will all leave you feeling full and content!
